Ed Ross, SSP 2006, MSS 2010

Ed is currently completing a Master’s of Science in Space Studies at the International Space University and a Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Systems at Athabasca University. Ed received his Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Physics and Astronomy with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Victoria. He attended the ISU 2006 Space Studies Program in Strasbourg, France. Ed’s research interests are in the application of artificial intelligence methodologies to the processing and analysis of remote sensing data and the development of software systems for scientific computing.

From 2002 to 2009, Ed worked for ASL Environment Sciences in Sidney, British Columbia. In his latest role as a Scientific Software Developer he developed control and data processing software for ASL's suite of sonar instruments and created a variety of web-based tools for project and business management. Ed has previously worked at the Joint Astronomy Centre in Hilo, Hawai'i and the Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory in Penticton, British Columbia.

Any chance he can get, Ed enjoys time with his family and shows his daughter the night sky as often as possible. He has started two web development businesses, played in a few rock bands, and enjoys the odd unusal sport; underwater hockey is not as easy as it appears.
